Sirius Computer Solutions to Acquire Brightlight Consulting

Sirius strengthens its big data and business analytics portfolio

Sirius Computer Solutions, Inc., has reached a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of Brightlight Consulting, a business intelligence consulting firm headquartered in Redmond, WA. As a result of this acquisition, Sirius significantly expands its fast-growing Business Analytics Solutions and Services practice.

Brightlight brings a strong services organization with extensive skills and deep technology expertise in many areas of the big data and business analytics landscape, including data warehousing, data transformation, analytics and cloud. Founded in 2005, Brightlight has built a solid consulting team of top industry practitioners and thought leaders focused on helping clients solve business problems, make informed strategic decisions, and advance their competitive advantage through practical, high-value business intelligence and analytics solutions.

“Business Analytics is a key growth area in the IT market. We continue to invest in this space in order to meet the growing demands of our clients who are looking to implement advanced analytics solutions that will help drive their revenue growth and innovation,” said Joe Mertens, president and CEO of Sirius. “Brightlight is a leader in business intelligence and data warehousing, and their team of experts is committed to their clients’ success. We have a similar company culture, and it made sense to make them part of our family.”

“Over the last three years, Sirius and Brightlight have worked together to successfully implement a number of projects that have benefited our mutual clients,” said Rick Bailer, senior vice president of sales at Sirius. “With the acquisition of Brightlight, Sirius will be able to offer our clients deeper and stronger skills in analytics and big data, including predictive and real-time analytics, social and mobile analytics, and the ability to handle immense amounts of data with file structures such as Hadoop® Distributed File System (HDFS). Brightlight also has managed services and cloud capabilities that will allow us to offer our clients analytics solutions either on-premise or in the cloud.”

Mark Kettering, president and CEO of Brightlight said, “I am delighted that Brightlight is joining the Sirius family. We have had tremendous success as a major player in business intelligence and data warehousing, however our organic growth model could not keep pace with our opportunities. By joining Sirius, we are able to extend more robust consulting capabilities to our clients, as well as broaden the number of clients we can help, which gives us the scalability to make a difference to more enterprises both large and small.”

“This is an exciting time for Brightlight,” said David Overcash, executive vice president and CTO at Brightlight. “With Sirius’ national reach, broad business solutions and services offerings, along with their strong sales and marketing engine, and long-term partnerships with leading technology providers, we have a great opportunity to accelerate the level of service we provide our clients. I’m extremely excited to expand and deepen what we have already been doing, and the successes we have been bringing to our clients. With this new partnership, we will become a clear market leader in business analytics and data warehousing services.”

Upon closing of the acquisition, the Brightlight team will be immediately integrated into the Sirius Software Consulting Services team and will operate as Brightlight Business Analytics – A Division of Sirius Computer Solutions.
