A long-standing Sirius partner and the pioneer of modern enterprise NAS storage, NetApp won “Best of Show: Most Innovative Flash Memory Customer Implementation” for an all-flash-array deployment of its EF-Series. The implementation took place at Diamond Light Source, a national science facility in the UK, according to an August 7 press release issued by NetApp.
NetApp was also named the 2014 “Market Leader” for All Flash NAS SSD in the IT Brand Pulse survey of storage industry professionals. The survey, issued in June, asked respondents who they perceived to be the market leader in terms of price, performance, reliability, service and support. The surveys constitute independent, non-sponsored research, according to IT Brand Pulse. The survey results were showcased at the Flash Memory Summit.
Diamond Light Source is the UK’s national synchrotron science facility. Diamond selected two NetApp EF540 flash arrays with 12x 800GB SSD, to create a high-speed data buffer and local data storage. This solution is designed for performance-driven applications with submillisecond-latency requirements. The data to be captured comes from beamlines, which are powerful blasts of light that enable scientists to study the atomic makeup of materials and better understand the fundamental nature of matter. The NetApp solution provided the high-speed IOPS the customer needed at a competitive price for its performance levels and features, according to the NetApp release. Another key factor in the NetApp EF-Series purchase was scalability.
Sirius is a NetApp Star partner, the highest partner status.
